DUSK, display
their latest masterpiece, the EP The New
Land, has five new tracks, featuring intense compositions like "Fall and Rise" "Behind My Shadow" "Insane" "The Evil Hands" and "Generation"
showcases the band's evolution since its inception in 2001.
The beginning of the EP
"Fall and Rise" directly
great iconic names back to my head like Motörhead,
Pantera or Malignant Tumour because their music is a fusion of various metal
subgenres heavy , groove , thrash,death n roll…but I advise you to pay
attention to the great opportunity of DUSK and the big advantage of the band
the pretty awesome guitar solos of Lamine
who fit perfectly with the rhythm guitar with never ending drumming following
continuous tempo. "Behind My Shadow"
begins with adownside tempo, and
then combines groove, thrash and heavy metal influences. Sometimes very fast,
they are able to slow down the rhythm by adding more heaviness to their music
during certain passages. The riffs take up a lot of space and they can hardly
deny the Dimebag Darrell influences. Behind
My Shadow is particularly intense and well done. It’s heavy with a very
strong 90s vibe.
"Insane" it describes DUSK and this is the perfect thing on
this EP this is the monster kill of The
New Land and the last two songs are "The Evil Hands" and "Generation"
In any case, you should have or try to listen The
New Land and put it in your
collection.
This release comes
via Malpermesita Records. Ardwena has seven new tracks from Hyde with album art that really fits the
content and feel of the album
The opening "Doom Over Sabis" first clearly
leaves black metal in control with the guitar riffs and horrific and dark
vocals a dose of black metal by the rules of the art, but soon melodic doom takes
over…. In addition, the interaction between the male and female voices offers a
great performance but not too much because as soon as this dose of doom with
clean vocals in the opera-choral style becomes immediately boring than expected
and makes us forget the perfect black metal intro, particularly on the
downside. of the tempo it goes out of the circuit its break in rhythm. In''Hammer Of Doom'', they manage to
switch more between genres but with each intro of almost all the album is
pleasant like "One" but
for the mixture of genres it can be just passable in any case you can
appreciate it or not for example "One"
is 50/50, a perfect intro followed by a sudden tiring and boring tempo drop and
then a great guitar solo.
"Nadir" his summary, describes and
schematizes Hyde. "Vidlua"
and "Lay of Winter" these
are the two masterpieces of this album because I underestimated Ardwena a lot
before listening to these two titles, and to conclude Ardwena riff and
technical and heavy guitar solos accompanied by pleasant ,soft and icy feminine
vocals which take you on a journey into the full atmosphere of Hyde
1-Hello guys how are you …..how many packs of beer you destroy today
héhé! At first congratulation on the release of your debut single “The Worm
That Gnaws At Night” introduction of your band to a world uninitiated with
your work?and how does it feel to have your music out there for the world to
hear ?
- Hello guys and thank you for having us. Actually I’m not that much of
a drinker, but when we celebrate it’s usually “SHOWTIME!!!” (Laughing). And to answer your question, so far, the feedback are amazingly
positives. We’re all pretty much stoked by the amount of love our first single
is getting.
2-Please give us an explanation of the inception of What is your goal
target what inspired you to create band and what intentions did you have
?
- I started the band sometimes last year, the
main goal was to compose songs that could act as a catharsis to the hatred I
was feeling at that time. I’m a big Celtic Frost fan and Monotheist was an
album I have always wanted to us as a blueprint production wise. On this long path to the
release of the EP, I have met plenty of amazing individuals, some of which I
hope to call friends for life or even brothers. I am beyond grateful for having
the chance to call them BANDMATES. We aimed to create a disturbing,
hypnotic and addictive atmosphere and strike a fine balance between the rage,
the passion, the journey, the revolt, the disgust with the world around us.
3-Primordial Black why this name? Can you tell us more about the
meaning
- I needed a name that could represent the
darkness I wanted to inject into this project. Primordial Black imposed itself
on its own during one of my winter night excursions by the sea.
4-What are the metal bands that influenced you or motivated you?
-As far as I am concerned and as I mentioned
above, Celtic Frost is by far one of
my primaryinfluences. But I think what makes our group strong is the influences
Mohammed (Our drummer) and Walid (Lead Guitarist) bring.
Mohammed is a fervent fan of Norwegian Black Metal and his drumming is an
astonishing mix between the technicality inherent to this scene and a Thrash
and Tribal wildness.
Walid is an aficionado of Polish Black Metal and the leads he places
under my primate rhythms Guitars (Laughing) add enormously to the discordant
side of our music.
5-What kind of music do you listen to yourself
- To be honest, aside from
the big releases of groups that I really appreciate (Black Dahlia Murders -
Behemoth - Tryptikon - Grima - etc.), I listen to very little metal at home.
I’m more into alt prog rock, IDM and electronic-ambient music.
6-What are your occupations outside Primordial Black?
- I’m a
Digital Marketer and I also do some Graphic Design works. Among other things, I
take care of the entire graphic identity of the band.
7-What do you think of the worldwide death metal and extreme scene
today?
- In the
group I think that we all have the same logic, we tend to love bands that do
something out of the ordinary. We like bands that has a vision and the courage
to try to go on a completely different path than everyone else.
For example, I’m in love with Absent In Body, a post-metal and sludge
band that is really radical, not imposed by any limitations or boundaries to
create this music. This is the kind of spirit
we adhere to.
8-What can you tell us about the songs that are available on your
officiel youtube?
- The Worm That Gnaws at Night is a song that acts as a metaphor. The Worm
we are talking about is not necessarily a demonic being as the title of the
song suggests. Rather, it is an image that objectifies the feeling of loss of
control and self-hatred, which lurks at the periphery of the human soul and
waits for the right moment to attack.
9-Primordial Black is on the top 10 in African metal what was
your reaction about this
- I think we
were as surprised as everyone else. It's our first single and we didn't think
we'd be included in any top charts. Being ranked with such a talented group of
bands is a blessing and has allowed us to create links with other minds who
share our values.
10-How would you describe your style of music?, how is the condition
of your recording of The Worm That Gnaws At Night ?,How was the
recording of the on studio session , how do you write your music ?
- Since there is no better term, I will
describe our music as Blackened Death Metal. The musical equivalent of sitting
in a room full of people and having an internal panic attack. (Laughing).
- I’m not a good guitar player. I’m an average songwriter but not a
good technical player. Walid and Dalii are million years ahead of me. I use my
ability to my advantage to write stupid riffs. It’s true though a good riff
should be on the borderline of being stupid because it’s catchy. That’s how I
write songs. I sit in front of my recording setup and start by constructing a
skeleton. I don’t want to write too much because I don’t want the guys to feel
too limited. I know one thing when
I bring a song idea to the guys. It’s going to sound better. If there is any
talent that I have, it’s the ability to surround myself with people that are
going to make me look good. People that are incredibly talented.
- We recorded the song in bulks. We recorded guitars to a click track
with Mohamed Raouf Youssef at Music Factory Studio, then recorded the drums/bass and vocals in
another studio, Make Music Studio with Selim Achour as engineer. Early on we made the conscious choice to record a real drum kit and not
to use Plugins. Which turned out to be much more expensive but we wantedto
honor Mohamed Ben Haddida's drumming. We also had the honor of being able to work with Yassine Omri in his Silver Steel Studio located in France.
Being mixed and mastered with analog studio elements instead of everything
digital added to the organic feeling we wanted to have.
11-Do you already have things in the plans after the single ...? new
album? Touring? Any new Ep's or Split with any band in the horizon?
- Yes, our first EP will be
released on January 12th by M&O Music and we are already working on the
demos of our first album which we hope to be able to record next year.
- Regarding live performances, we are in
solidarity with what is happening in Palestine and we do not think it is wise
at this time to celebrate our music live. Maybe later when the situation has
calmed down and justice has been done.
12-How is the metal scene in Tunisia?
- The Tunisian scene is in
full revival. The various festivals which took place this year under the
leadership of Agartha, Ali Djaziri and the Mena Rock Festival have largely put
the scene back on its feet.
There are many groups that have been created
and others that have resumed after years of hiatus.
I am hopeful, especially knowing that the
scene is diverse.
13-Any fav bands to get on stage with? any future fest,
gigs?
- For me it would be:
Gaerea, Grima, Mastodon or the Black Dahlia Murder. I guess our drummer would
add DimmuBorgir, Dalii our bassist would choose Megadeth or Patera and Walid
will put MGLA in the Wishlist.
14-Are you satisfied with the M&O MUSIC or you want to record
your stuff at more professional studio ?
- M&O MUSIC is
our label.
15-Which label would fit your music?
- Our dream
labels would be Season of Mist or Nuclear Blast
16-What is your daily consumption amount of alcohol,cigarettes......
?
- I quit
smoking, the guys are occasionally smokers and let’s say we drink once in a
week to relieve the stress
17-Thank you a lot for sharing your time with No Mercy Zine , do
you have any particular messages for particular people Or any closing
notes , last words are yours ?
- I would
like to thank you for this opportunity that you gave us to talk about our
project.
I also thank everyone who appreciated our
first single, promising them that the EP is even more explosive.
On closing note, we encourage every person
who liked our music, to have a listen and watch the bands of our local scene.
Sometimes you may find a new band to listen to and follow, and be sure that
every time you’ll discover something that was created with a passion, we don't
get anywhere else.
Ultimately in 2023 a primitive, prehistoric, pure and true death metal, without
advanced technology or effect or sound modify,a hope that makes us forget the Invasion of modern
metal.
Lucifers Crownis an heavy sound from the caves of hell for Hell's
Headbangers, traditional style of old school death metal with satanic ,anti-christianity /Antisemitism
and blasphemyinfluences with U.S
southern touch (dark, Satanic death
metal) early Morbid Angel and Acheron early underground death metal bands back
to my head when I listen Lucifers Crown
,just by the preview of Prophetic March
of The Devils Legion you will understand it is like Hell's Judgement or
beginning of eternal war, but the most important thing on this album you can see
the 'golden age'80s/early '90s death
metal
Evil Incarnate on this album presents a pretty easy-peasy and simple
run of traditional death metal riffing and sometimes guitars were heavy as hell
the production, is a
miror of the mid-'90s sound. The mix is completely dominated by the dirty,
ultra-bassy guitar tone, which is so distorted as to render some of the more
minimalist riffs. Drums are pushed into the background and nestled next to the
vocals, with only bass drums and cymbals being very readily audible, as the
gruff, mid-range growls of Michael
Eisenhauer occupy a similar acoustic space to the guitar, pushing them
together into a single homogenous mass. The overall sound is very forceful and
seething, and it fits the somewhat chaotic style of death metal that Evil Incarnate plays pretty perfectly.
It's clean enough to allow the listener to understand everything that's going
on, but not so much that the evil, anti-Christian atmosphere is compromised.
I think , you should
have no no noyou must have" Lucifers
Crown " in your collection..
Cryptopsy.
Starting as brutal tech-death, they took the world with 1994s Blasphemy Made Flesh and 1996s iconic None So Vile. (their two masterpiece)
. In the past they were
known as one of the best Technical Death Metal acts with terrific and bestial
vocals from legends like Lord Worm
and drumming precision of Flo Mounier, It
was their The golden era.
The bands new album, As Gomorrah Burns, is out September
2023 with perfect sound the sound quality iscutting edge technology, the album
coveralmost the same of Whisper
Supremacy in summary it's the same with some modification
In any case since 2008
or beforeeverything changed and the major wrong thing is the new vocalist Matt McGachyat all he fit more Metalcore
based scream (he is an asshole if you compare with Lord Worm) Matt McGachy need
help and need some Death Metal lessons
aside from that in As Gomorrah Burns the new direction of Cryptopsy. it's no moreTechnical Brutal
Death everyone lost faith and interest !!and I agree, with the leaving of Lord Worm, Cryptopsy's glory and triumph
also left too !
Some people say,
Crytopsy has returned with another album just to prove they are still one of
the best. And they accomplish that.!!!!!!!!but that's not the case
The few poly-rhythmic
slowdowns are certainly more modern, we consider that deathcore ,core and djent
things are very present. and the sound of the eight strings is now so much a
part of Cryptopsy's arsenal like most contemporary metal bands that it just shows
the band's or labels desire to live with the times besides I don't even
recognize the drumming by Flo Mounier.
I think , you should
not add this album to your collection
.and surely the years of Cryptopsy with Lord
Worm was great .
Dying of
everything ! just by the preview you wonder is it Obituary !??unfortunately it’s the latest obituary
realese!! (The golden era of this Floridians is over !!!) because its much less
good than Frozen in Time ,The End Complete ,Back From The Dead , World Demise and too
far from Slowly We Rotor Cause of Death their two masterpiece
…. the Obituary touch is here but !! their comeback is wrong
Unfortunately, Obituary regressed !, if you're an old school death
metal fan ……………………………..Obituary just shows how out of
touch they are with the current old school death metal movement - which, will
still not immune to mediocrity hopping………………………………………………This album didn't piss me off, like "Xecutioner's
Return" and "Inked in Blood" did: it's just as mediocre, dull
and formulaic as modern Obituary gets. The mild energy and slightly better
riffage of the self-titled album, or the admirable atmospheric attempts of
"Darkest Day", are completely gone and forgotten here: the band is
just going through the motions at this point. Don't waste your time on this. In
any case you don’t need to add this album to your collection .
